Remains of fallen peacekeepers handed over to relatives

COLOMBO (News1st) - The remains of the two Sri Lankan peacekeepers who were killed in Mali were handed over to their relatives today (February 05). The duo died in an attack on the convoy on the 25th of January. The body of Major H.W.D Jayawickrama is scheduled to be brought to his residence in Pulastipura, Polonarruwa this afternoon (February 05). The body of sergeant S.S Wijeyakumara was brought to his residence in Polpitigama in Kurunegala this morning (February 05). The final rites are due to be conducted on Thursday (February 07).
