Appropriation bill presented in parliament

Colombo (News1st): Appropriation bill including estimated expenditure for this year was presented to the Parliament today (Feb 5) by the Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kirella. The Appropriation Bill estimates Rs. 4.55 trillion as expenditure for its services for the financial year of 2019. Following are a few expenditure allocations;
  • Rs. 2.32 trillion - Debt servicing
  • Rs. 392 billion - Ministry of Defense
  • Rs. 291 Billion - Ministry of Internal and Home affairs and Provincial and Provincial Administration
  • Rs. 216 Billion - Ministry of Public Administration and Disaster Risk Management
  • Rs. 186 Billion - Ministry of Health and Nutrition
  • Rs. 104 Billion - Ministry of Education
The Appropriation bill which included estimated government expenditure will be read with the Government Income inline at the 2nd Reading of the Budget on March 5th at the Parliament.
