Colombo (News1st): JVP Parliamentarian Sunil Handunhetti believes that the country and state institutions would perform better if there are no ministers, MPs or heads of institutions. Addressing a public rally, Handunetti spoke about the performance of provincial councils and institutions attached to the said councils during the period when there were no councilors to run the provincial council. He explained that although this could be portrayed by some as a failure of democracy, the reality remains that it was during this period that these councils and institutions were most profitable. He noted that there were profitable because there was no one to steal from the councils or institutions attached to them. He concluded that if there were no political interferences, there is a great possibility of curbing waste and corruption across the country.
