Colombo (News1st): The Department of Agriculture states that the Sena caterpillar menace is on the decline. Deputy Director of Agriculture Anura Wijetunga said this was due to widespread use of techniques to resolve the problem plus the end of corn cultivations, which was the primary host for the caterpillars’ development.

Nevertheless he said efforts to eradicate the caterpillar problem will continue unabated. He added that steps taken to control its spread are proving successful.
