Singapore to assist in fight against drugs

Colombo (News1st): The Singaporean government is has agreed to support Sri Lanka in its fight against drugs. The agreement was reached during President Sirisena's ongoing visit to Singapore. The President met with Singapore's Minister for Social and Family Development Desmond Lee and officials of the drug eradication units today (Jan 24). In a statement, the President's media division said President Maithripala Sirisena received a favourable response to the request made to assist Sri Lanka in eradicating the drug menace in the country. To support the effort, a team from Singapore is to come to Sri Lanka provide assistance to officials carrying out the eradication efforts.
