Two shot dead in underworld clash

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people were shot dead in Hekitta, Wattala a short while ago. The two victims aged 28 and 33 years have been identified as residents of Jinthupitiya, Kotahena. The Police Media Unit noted the victims had been shot when traveling in a vehicle. However, another woman who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident had only sustained injuries. The police suspect the shooting to be the result of a clash between two criminal gangs. Police also suspect that the shooting was carried out by members of the "Kelaniya Gumma" gang. The vehicle used by the suspects was seen fleeing towards Negombo.
