Wild elephant knocked by a jeep in Hambantota

Colombo (News1st): A wild elephant was knocked down by a jeep in Mayurapura, Hambanthota along the Matara - Kataragama main road. The accident took place around 8.00 last night. The wild elephant was crossing the road when the jeep had knocked him. Three people including a woman were injured and admitted to the Hambanthota Base Hospital. The woman was later transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for further treatments. A team from the Bundala Wildlife office has been dispatched to look into the condition of the elephant.
