Major General Shavendra Silva appointed as Army Chief of Staff

Colombo (News1st): Major General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the 53rd Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. He previously served as the Executive General of the Army Headquarters. Major General Shavendra Silva also served as the Commander of the Gajaba Regiment. Major General Silva joined Sri Lanka Army in 1984 and received his officer training at Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in Diyatalawa. He was thereafter commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Gajaba Regiment. Shavendra Silva who joined the diplomatic service during 2010 - 2015, served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations in New York.
