Colombo (News 1st) – The Ministry of Industry and Commerce states that gas prices will not be increased.
A senior officer of the ministry stated that some companies have made requests to increase the price of LP gas and that the request has been forwarded to the cost of living committee.
When News 1st inquired about the matter from the consumer affairs authority a senior official stated that there is no need to increase the gas prices. He cited the drop in gas prices in the world market during the months of November and December for his reasoning.
Meanwhile, the officer stated that raids are being carried out to arrest the wholesale gas sellers who are keeping stocks hidden.
