Seven Sri Lankan fishermen released from Reunion Island

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Seven Sri Lankan fishermen who were arrested by the Reunion Island's security officials have been released today (January 05). They were arrested over illegal fishing in seas off the French island, in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. The Assistant Director of investigations for the Fisheries Department, Padampriya Thissera confirmed that the seven individuals had been aboard the "Oshada Putha" at the time of the arrest. The group all between the ages of 20 and 30 had set out to sea on the 05th of December 2018.
