COLOMBO (News 1st) – Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygunawardana informed the PCOI yesterday (January 04) that he was gifted a vehicle by the former president in 2007. It was disclosed that Mihin Lanka had paid a loan of Rs. 8.2 million for the vehicle.

Abeygunawardene said that although he had not worked for Sri Lankan Airlines he had served as a director at the NSB for nearly eight years.  He said that in July 2007 the former president had told him to take possession of the vehicle. A person named Mr. Sumith was in possession of the vehicle prior to its collection.
Abeygunawardene added the vehicle was an N16 which he returned to the government on the 15th of January 2015.
He added that by that time he already had several vehicles including a Benz, Audi, and Peugeot.

When a journalist questioned him on how he had received a vehicle from the Airlines when he was not an employee of that organization he responded that the question must be posed to Mahinda Rajapaksa instead.

“Who would ever say no when they are given a vehicle? who will ever say that they cannot accept when they are given a vehicle?” – he added
