7 SLTB depots of the Northern province on strike

Colombo (News1st): The Sri Lanka Transport Board says that employees attached to 7 depots in 5 districts of the Northern Province have launched a strike. They demand the removal of the Northern province regional manager of the SLTB as he had illegally acquired certain administrative function and are treating them unfairly. All bus services except long-distance buses traveling at night have been halted. The Northern province regional manager has been temporarily suspended pending investigations. SLTB Chief Operations Superintendent said they will begin discussions on Monday to appoint a new manager.
