Grama Niladhari officer arrested for accepting a bribe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Bribery commission arrested the administrative Grama Niladhari officer of Godakawela for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000. Investigative director of the bribery commission Priyantha Chandrasiri confirmed that the bribe was obtained from a businessman to provide a permit to transport a stock of wood.   The suspect was arrested when he was accepting the bribe at the Godakawela divisional secretariat.   He is due to be presented before the Pelmadulla Magistrates Court.
