8 year prison sentence for Rs. 3000 bribe

Colombo (News1st): A Police Constable attached to the Girandurukotte Police was sentenced to 08 years of rigorous imprisonment for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 3000. He had solicited the bribe over a traffic violation. Colombo High Court Judge Sashi Mahendran issued the verdict when a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was taken up. The Bribery Commission filed the case against the suspect on 04 separate charges on the 22nd of May 2014.
