Sri Lankan Army to release 1099 acres of land

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lankan Army noted that they will release 1099 acres of farmland in the Northern Province, to its original owners. A statement issued by the Army notifies that these farmlands will be released on the instructions of the President. As per the said instructions, 194 acres of land in Jayapuram, Kilinochchi belonging to the Department of Forest Conservation will be released. Another 285 acres in the Kilinochchi district and 120 acres of land in Pudukudirippu, Mulathivu are also due to be released. Meanwhile, 500 acres out of 600 that belongs to the forest conservation department in the Wellamkulam area in the Mannar district will also be released. The release issued by the Sri Lankan Army further notes that these lands will be released by the 2nd week of January 2019.
