COLOMBO (News 1st) – The number of skeletal remains found at the Mannar mass grave has risen to 283.
The Chief Investigation Officer in charge of the Mannar Mass grave, specialist doctor Saminda Rajapaksha said, 274 skeletal remains out of the total which have been unearthed during a 121-day operation, have been placed at the Mannar Magistrate court’s compound under special police protection.
It has also been decided to transport the skeletal remains to the United States for a carbon dating test within the next month. Dr. Saminda Rajapaksa noted that these skeletons will be sent to the Deeta Analytics agency in Florida.
Excavations on the site commenced in March this year.
