COLOMBO (News 1st): Champika Premadasa assumed duties as the State Minister of Power and Renewable Energy today (December 27). The minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ravi Karunanayaka was also present during the event.

Speaking at the event, the new State Minister Premadasa stated that he hopes to do just to the ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, disregarding any political preference.

When journalists questioned if there will be a reduction in electricity charges, Min. Ravi Karunanayake said: “May the new year be a year of surplus electricity”.
