COLOMBO (News 1st): UNFF leader PC Maithri Gunarathne said at a media briefing that Sajith Premadasa will not be named as the presidential candidate in the 2020 election. He stated that if there is anyone who claims that he will be, "that's a myth". Gunaratne went on to say that if Sajith Premadasa is in-fact the candidate, he should be given the position now, as "preparations cannot be made just a month away from the election". "Do not be deceived by these lies. We would like to state clearly that Ranil Wickramasinghe is on a mission of taking the UNP, which is one of the greatest parties countries in the country, down to its grave," he added. Maithri Gunarathne also questioned who will become the Prime Ministerial candidate, if Sajith Premadasa is the Presidential Candidate. He said: "That candidate (PM) is not being named. This is a complete sham. He (RW) thinks that he can win the election in 2020. Today the TNA is with him and so are the Muslim parties. He thinks that he can win the election with the support of the TNA and the Muslim parties." Gunaratne went on to say that the TNA will not get the same number of votes if they go for an election after "fooling their constituents". "That is why the TNA is against going for an election," he added.
