COLOMBO (News 1st): The United People’s Freedom Alliance continues to reiterate that the present government should hold an election.
UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena spoke to the media today (December 26) and said that the UNP is “already a prisoner of the TNA”. He pointed out that only 102 votes were obtained to pass the vote on account in parliament, after receiving 13 votes from the TNA.
“They have already expressed their opposition against the actions of the UNP. This is the downfall of the government,” he added.
Abeywardena stated that given the circumstances, an election must be held within the next three months. “Even they want an election, as they are incapable of taking the government forward.”
