Compensation to be provided for those affected in North and East

COLOMBO (News 1st): President's Media Division has said that a decision has been taken to provide compensation for those whose houses were damaged in the Northern and Eastern provinces due to the heavy rainfall and floods. According to the PMD, Rs. 10,000 will be given as an initial payment to repair the houses, while a maximum of Rs. 250,000 will be provided after the damages have been estimated. The release by the PMD also says that a Rs. 40,000 compensation would also be provided for an acre of destroyed paddy land.
