COLOMBO (News 1st): The Executive Committee of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) met with President Maithripala Sirisena this morning (Dec 24) at the President’s official residence.
UPFA’s General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera stated that this was the final executive committee meeting for the year, until their next meeting in January.
“We usually meet every 3 months. But considering the future political situation in the country, we decided to meet every month. We are also hoping hold discussions to further strengthen the UPFA.” he added.
When questioned if the former President attended the meeting, Amaraweera stated that Mahinda Rajapaksa did not attend the meeting as he is not a member of the executive committee.
