Colombo (News1st) - Organizers of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party were summoned to the President's house today. The President's Media Division said that the organizers were briefed about the party's future plans and the party's restructuring activities. President Maithripala Sirisena had emphasized that organizers need to take the lead in order to strengthen the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, which will contest in the future as part of a broader alliance. MP Dayasiri Jayasekara speaking to the media following the meeting noted that new party organizers would be appointed by January adding that they have already sorted out the internal issues of the party. When questioned if members of the SLPP attended today's meeting, Jayasekara noted that some did and that they plan to join the SLFP as they move forward. He added that these MPs have no other alternative. MP Dilan Perera noted that the UNP is frightened by Opp. Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa much more than PM Rajapaksa. Perera believes that if the partnership of Rajapaksa and President Maithripala Sirisena continue, the UNP would be finished in the provincial, general and presidential elections. Journalists also caught up with MP Duminda Dissanayake, when questioned about his opinion on the sequence of events that have occurred, Dissanayake stated that he would express his opinion on a later date. While denying that he has plans to join the UNP, Dissanayake also commented on the SLPP members who returned to the SLFP. He stated that he is always of the stance that the SLFP should be strengthened and he had extended an open invitation to all of them during the last party conference as well.  When questioned about a letter sent by the general secretary of the UPFA stating that the MPs who obtained membership of the SLPP remain in the alliance, Duminda Dissanayake stated that the entire country witnessed how certain individuals obtained memberships and spoke against the SLFP, he noted that these actions cannot be hidden. An argument took place outside the President's house among several SLFP organizers. Speaking to the media SLFP General Secretary Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa stated that the party is ready for any election and that they are in the process of building a broad alliance. He added that there may be some opposition to it but it would be sorted out. When questioned as to why the President left the meeting prior to its conclusion, Prof. Piyadasa stated that he did so because he was traveling overseas and had to be at the airport by noon.
