Colombo (News1st) – Residents of Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Mannar, and Vavuniya are all experiencing extreme difficulties due to torrential rain. According to Satellite data, this adverse weather is set to continue tomorrow as well.
Director General of the Met. Department Athula Karunanayake noted that there was a disturbance over the lower atmosphere of the island which has moved away. However, He noted that Sri Lanka is currently facing the effects of the Nort West monsoon.
Karunanayake added that as a result heavy rainfall could be expected in many parts of the island in excess of 75mm. The sea areas near the coast extending from Trincomalee to Puttlam via Kankasanthueri could also experience rough weather as a result of the monsoon.
