Colombo (News1st): Following the parliamentary session today (December 19) journalists questioned UNP MP (Dr.) Harsha De Silva about the new cabinet of ministers. MP de Silva noted that he does not know who will be the Minister of Finance adding that they hope to limit the Cabinet to 30 ministers. The Parliamentarian noted that they are against providing ministerial portfolios for those who have crossed over as they worked against them for a while. He questioned whether they are able to join hands with people like Mahinda Samarasinghe who criticized them. "We heard that they are saying that we are helpless, but now they are the ones begging for ministerial positions," said MP De Silva. UNP MP Mujibur Rahuman also commenting on this regard stated that the delay is due to an issue with the President. He added that the Cabinet should be sworn in tomorrow (Dec 20) and if there is a problem the President should discuss it with the Prime Minister and resolve it. MP Rahuman states that there are several issues in appointing MP Wasantha Senanayake as a minister. He noted that because he was a state minister in the United National Party, the other State Ministers will have an issue if he gets appointed as a minister. He stated that he does not think it will be the right thing to do.
