Reuters – Brazil’s Gabriel Medina took home the 2018 World Surf League Championship trophy on Monday (December 17) with Australia’s Julian Wilson coming in as runner-up.
Medina also won the Billabong Pipe Masters with a 6 foot, 8 inch (2.032 metres) surf in Hawaii.
It was a tight battle as Medina and Wilson entered the competition as the two last standing competitors capable of winning the world title. They stayed close all day and Medina edged out Wilson with a total of 18.34 to Wilson’s 16.70.
