"Thank you to everyone who fought for democracy" - PM

COLOMBO (News 1st) - After being sworn in as Prime Minister this morning, Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at temple trees. Speaking to those gathered at temple trees, the premier noted that the new cabinet of Ministers would be sworn in soon. He went onto note that they would devote themselves to return the country to normalcy. Ranil Wickremesinghe also stated that they would be doubling their efforts to develop the country because their development drive came to a halt a few weeks ago due to political turmoil. Further, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe thanked all those who supported the fight for democracy in many ways with the promise to address the nation extensively on a separate occasion.
