Ranil will have to worship the TNA temple - Rohitha Abeygunawardene

Colombo (News 1st) - Members of the SLPP MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Prof. G. L. Peiris spoke about the relationship between TNA and the UNP during a media briefing held today. UPFA MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena stated that Ranil Wickremesinghe's "good friend" Anura Kumara Dissanayake will lose his position of Chief Opposition Whip on the 18th. He continued to state that they will function as strong opposition with 101 MP's and therefore the position of the Opposition leader and Chief Opposition whip will have to be given to them. He went onto state that Anura Kumara Dissanayake should be given a position such as Leader of the House for working tirelessly for Ranil Wickremesinghe. While noting that the SLFP group that broke away from the Government will be remaining in the opposition, Abeywardene added that certain MPs will become frustrated as they won't receive ministerial portfolios. The MP went onto state that these MPs will eventually join the opposition and in the end, Ranil Wickremesinghe will have to once again "worship the TNA temple". The leader of SLPP Prof. G. L. Peiris stated that the TNA would have supported Mahinda Rajapaksa if he had agreed to their conditions. He noted that Mahinda rejected the offer because he did not want to form a government for a few weeks or months. He stated that Ranil Wickremesinghe will be sworn in tomorrow and the cabinet will be appointed the day after and for the first time in the history of this country, a government managed by the TNA is being formed. Prof. G. L. Peiris stated that if the UNP wants to hold on to power, they will have to work according to the agenda of the TNA.
