250 school vans unfit for travel to face penalty

Colombo (News 1st) - The Department of Motor Traffic stated that the school transport vans and buses which have received notice for repairs or restoration should do so and submit the vehicle to the district motor vehicle inspector for evaluation. The Assistant Commissioner of the Department, Sunil Jayaweera stated that year round 250 school transport vehicles were found to be unsuitable for driving. He noted that if the vehicles were found to be driven without repairs, the School Transport license will be canceled.
