Fines imposed on shop owners for sub par goods & services

Colombo (News 1st) - The Consumer Affairs Authority stated that cases have been filed against 2175 shop owners following raids carried out throughout the island in targetting this festive season. According to its Director General M.S.M. Fouzer, a sum of Rs. 9.8 million have been imposed as fines against shop owners. The fines have been imposed in relation to selling substandard food, using low-quality polythene, selling of goods at high prices and for the sale of expired food.
