Colombo (News 1st) – The appeal filed by Mahinda Rajapaksa and 49 others calling on the Supreme Court to nullify the interim injunction issued by the Court of Appeal, which prevents Mahinda Rajapaksa and his cabinet of ministers from functioning in their capacities, has been postponed to Friday (Dec 14).
The appeal was taken up by a three-judge bench comprising of Justices Priyantha Jayawardena, Prasanna Jayawardena and L. T. B. Dehideniya.
While the lawyers for the respondents requested the court to consider the appeal today (Dec 12), the lawyers on behalf of the defendants (Ranil Wickremesinghe) stated that the defendants were not issued notices to be present in court today.
Therefore the case was postponed to Friday (Dec 14).
