Colombo (News 1st) – Investigations have revealed that the smuggling operation involving the stocks of heroin discovered in the seas off Beruwala was co-ordinated from Pakistan and the Maldives.
The Police anti-narcotics bureau stated that it was revealed that a local drug kingpin who fled the country is suspected of coordinating these operations.
They added that 5 more suspects connected to the incident have been identified and operations are currently underway to arrest them.
According to the police, the suspects’ have used satellite phones to communicate with each other.
The police are looking into the information collected through the local telecommunication service providers regarding the satellite phone communications.
The bank accounts of the suspects are also to be looked into.
