FR petition against Speaker Karu Jayasuriya

Colombo (News1st) - A fundamental rights petition has been filed against Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. The FR petition has been filed by Attorney-at-Law Aruna Laksiri. In it, he challenged the Speaker's decision to convene Parliament despite a pending interim injunction order on the Gazette issued on dissolving Parliament. The attorney notes that as a result of this decision, the Speaker is in Contempt of Court.
