Colombo (News1st): The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) states that about 350 Sri Lankan domestic workers have reported to a number of embassies seeking protection.
A senior official at the bureau stated that the number is particularly high in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The major issues that are being reported are abuse at the workplace and unpaid work. SLBFE is currently working on finding ways to bring the workers back to Sri Lanka. In case the workers do not want to return, SLBFE states they are ready to find them alternative employment.
