UNP and JVP to challenge dissolution of Parliament

Colombo (News 1st) - The United National Party and the JVP hgas stated that they will take legal action regarding the Parliament being dissolved. Mangala Samaraweera speaking to the media noted that they are not afraid of an election, however, he added that they are opposed to the current election as it was announced disregarding the constitution. Samaraweera added that they will be going to court on Monday (Nov 12) to seek legal redress and hoped to once again show their majority in Parliament. The leader of JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the situation in Sri Lanka is like "Hanuman setting fire everywhere he goes". He stated that the Parliament was dissolved without any legal base yesterday (November 09), adding that the JVP hopes to go before the Supreme Court against the unconstitutional act of dissolving the Parliament.
