COLOMBO (News 1st) – Four suspects have been arrested in connection with smuggling heroin in an island-wide drug raid.

One suspect, a 39-year-old was arrested in Borella with 2.74 grams of heroin and fifty-one rounds of 9mm ammunition were also discovered in his possession.

Another suspect was arrested with 7.7 grams of heroin in Sinna Dupatha, Borella.

Police further confirmed that the third suspect, a 40-year-old was arrested with 22 grams of heroin near the Marawila bus stop. He is to be produced before the Marawila Magistrates Court today (November 07).

Meanwhile, in a raid carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Negombo division a fourth suspect a 51-year-old individual was arrested in Thakkiya road, Kochchikade for the possession of over 2 kilograms of Heroin.

The seized heroin is valued at over Rs. 20 million.
