COLOMBO (News 1st) – Three men were arrested for breaking into a State Bank in Mattegoda, Kottawa and stealing cash and jewellery worth over Rs. 50 Million.
Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the jewellery worth Rs. 49.3 Million and cash of Rs. 9.3 Million was discovered buried.
The arrested individuals are residents of Padukka and Godagama. The suspects have also taken away the CCTV DVR from the state bank and dumped it into the Kelani River.
Police are expecting to deploy divers to recover the device from the bottom of the river.
