Colombo (News1st): The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy said the water levels at the six main reservoirs surrounding Hydro Power Plants, have increased up to 87.8%.
Media Spokesperson of the Ministry, Sulakshana Jayawardena stated that the capacity was at 70% before the current weather conditions. He added that there is also a significant reduction in the daily requirement of power on the main grid.
Meanwhile, the Met Department predicts heavy rains of 100-150 mm to occur in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts over the next few days. 100 mm rains can be expected in Western, Uva, North-western and Eastern provinces.
