Sujatha Cooray appointed as the new chairperson of People's Bank

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sujatha Cooray has been appointed as the new Chairperson of People's Bank by President Maithripala Sirisena. She served as the former Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Highways and also as the Assistant Secretary to the Ministry of Finance. She was also a board member of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and the Board of Investment as well as in a number of state and private banks. The Board of Directors of People's Bank was dissolved last evening (October 22) and the new Board is yet to be appointed.
