Batticaloa - Colombo railway line yet to be restored

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Operations along the Batticaloa - Colombo railway line are yet to be restored following a derailment which took place early this morning (October 22) in Mahawa. Four compartments of the train and its engine had derailed. The Railway Control Room further noted that arrangments were made to transport the passengers who were traveling in the train to the Mahawa railway station. Measures are underway to restore operations.
