1195 students receive the President's Scout Award

Colombo (News1st): The President's Scout Awards Ceremony was held in Polgolla, Kandy today (October 20) under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The ceremony was organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association. Scouts and Girl guides representing all provinces of the country were present at the event. 1195 students were eligible to receive the President's Scout award. The website for the Scout's Movement was also launched by the Head of State. The President was presented with a special award by the Sri Lanka Scout Association. President Sirisena was also honoured by the Principal of Dharmaraja College Kandy for the support rendered to Dharmaraja College in hiking the K2 mountain in Nepal. Speaking at the event president stated that back in the day when he was a scout they had to face different social issues than what the children today face. He added that children in this generation live in a competitive world and they have to face bad and indecent things.
