COLOMBO (News 1st) – Two committees have been appointed to restructure the SLFP. This decision was reached during a special central committee meeting which was held at the President’s official residence yesterday (October 16).
The meeting that started at 7.30 last night lasted nearly two hours.
Speaking to the media after the meeting Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama, said that Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was appointed as chairperson of one committee, while MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was appointed to head the other. He mentioned that the group of 16 MPs who left the government was now reduced to 15.
Meanwhile, SLFP Vice President Shan Wijayalal de Silva said that the group of 15, who were absent from the meeting, had sent a letter instead, which was read out at the beginning of the meeting.
