Colombo (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Freedom Party central committee met last night (October 16) under the patronage of the President. During the meeting, attention was focused on restructuring the SLFP as well as varying views on forming a caretaker Government.
Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama speaking to reporters after the meeting stated that the restructuring of the party will be done very soon. He stated 2 new committees were formed and given responsibilities. one committee is headed by Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and the other is headed by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.
Muthuhettigama also noted that S.B. Dissanayake and several other members gave notice in writing regarding their inability to participate in the meeting.
Shan Wijayalal a member of the SLFP central committee stated that a 15 member group had sent a letter with recommendations to the party.
