RDA to construct a temporary section for the Hatton-Balangoda main road

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Engineer at the Norwood office of the Road Development Authority, K.D.B.R Devapriya said that plans are being drawn up to build a temporary road to continue transportation on the Hatton -Balangoda main road that collapsed due to an earthslip yesterday (October 15). Devapriya said that he had also requested officials at the National Building Research Organization to carry out a location survey and submit a report in close proximity to the location of the earthslip. He further said that the road above the cliff where the landslide occured will be broadened and the entry of only light weighted vehicles will be permitted. Meanwhile, measures have also been taken to evacuate residents of two more houses.
