COLOMBO (News 1st) – Distribution of dry rations to those affected by dry weather in the country commenced today (October 14) from the Nochchiyagama District in Anuradhapura.
The Disaster Management Centre stated that a relief pack worth Rs. 5000 will be provided to the affected families under this project.
The government has allocated a sum of Rs. 9 billion for the distribution of relief to those affected by dry weather.
According to the latest report released by the Disaster Management Centre over 800,000 individuals have been affected by the dry weather prevalent in over 17 districts.
The Puttalam district has been the worst affected.
