Colombo (News1st): Customs officials arrested three individuals including a woman while attempting to smuggle gold into the country. The individuals arrived in the country from Singapore.

Two of the suspects were arrested at around 10:30 last night (October 10) with 10 gold biscuits and two pieces of gold. The other suspect was arrested at 12:30 AM (October 11) with 24 gold biscuits.

The gold biscuits weigh around 2.5 kilograms and are worth more than Rs. 16 million. The suspects aged 48, 50 and 55 years old are residents of Wattala and Kotte.

Further investigations are underway.
