Colombo (News1st): K.A.S Peiris the Former Deputy Sports Director of the Sports Development Department says that it is unclear as to why the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit has commenced an investigation when the Sri Lankan team is about face England in a bilateral series. He stated that the investigation could be an attempt to demoralize the Sri Lankan players. He added that the investigation becomes even more suspicious when you realise that the ICC did not conduct any such inquiries when a former member of the administration was heavily involved in betting. K.A.S. Peiris added that it is suspicious as to whose agenda these investigations are taking place. He questioned the ethics behind the removal of the former player Angelo Mathews, even though he failed in this tournament. Former Deputy Sports Director noted that his opinion is that Angelo Mathews should remain on the team. He added that they are faced with the question as to whether they are trying to completely destroy cricket in our country, the players should be asked to face the challenges and provide a strong answer to the people who are corrupt.
