Heart surgeries suspended due to broken AC

Colombo (News1st): Critical heart surgeries at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital have come to a standstill as the poorly-functioning air-conditioning system has not been repaired completely. Speaking to News1st Doctors said the patients in dire need of heart surgery have been transferred to other hospitals. Heart surgeries performed at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital were suspended several months ago. A company had been tasked with repairing the system, doctors charge the company in question has not commenced repairs even to date. They claim the delay puts hundreds of lives at risk. There are over 4000 heart-patients in the waiting list of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
