JO unsatisfied by MILCO's investigation into poisoned milk packets

Colombo (News 1st) -  Following the recent rally conducted by the joint opposition, allegations were leveled that some of the party supporters had been poisoned through the use of milk packets.  Joint Opposition parliamentarians visited MILCO on Wednesday (Sept 19) to inquire into whether investigations are being conducted into this incident. Following a media briefing held in Colombo, MPs representing the Joint Opposition visited the MILCO factory. The Chairman of MILCO, Quality Manager, and members of the financial division of the company held discussions with the parliamentarians. The Chairman of MILCO stated that they looked into the matter adding that the milk packets in question had been punctured in two places. He added that an inquiry has been launched to ascertain what chemical was injected into the milk packets. Namal Rajapaksa clarifies whether MILCO has logged a complaint with the Police regarding the product being mishandled. MP Namal Rajapaksa, however, stated that they are unsatisfied with the progress of the investigation, MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage called on officials of MILCO to lodge a complaint with the CID. Even though the discussion between the MILCO officials and the JO MPs took on an aggressive tone, the scenes captured by our cameras following the conclusion of the meeting were slightly different.
