COLOMBO (News 1st) – Following allegations of a conspiracy leveled against DIG Nalaka De Silva with the discovery of a certain phone conversation, the Ministry of Law and Order has recommended for the DIG to be sent on compulsory leave. The Ministry stated that the recommendation was also directed to the National Police Commission.
Meanwhile, views were expressed in this regard during the Cabinet media briefing held on Wednesday (September 19). Responding to an inquiry about the assassination plot Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne stated that the matter was not brought up at the cabinet because the CID is already conducting investigations into the matter.
The Co-Cabinet Spokesperson also added that the DIG cannot be arrested merely based on an allegation and a statement in Parliament.
