COLOMBO (News 1st) – The National Police Commission stated that over 5000 complaints against police officers have been received during the past 3 years.

According to the Chairman of the Commission, G.H. Manathunga, 90% of complaints have already been provided with solutions.

Manathunga stated that a majority of the complaints received had been related to the dismissal of duties. Most complaints had not been heard for over eight years.

Chairman of the police commission noted that numerous problems have arisen as a result of this.
